Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview has finally landed at Landmark. Locally, the Landmark Regent Theatre in Westwood Village (on Broxton) will be showing the Jobs-umentary today and tomorrow only, November 16 and 17, with showtimes at 715 and 9pm.
The newly found doc, around 69 minutes in length, was shot in 1995 when Robert X. Cringely interviewed the mercurial Apple legend for his wonderful miniseries on PBS called “Triumph of the Nerds”, about the rise of the PC industry. Only 9 minutes of the interview made it into that PBS show, but now we can finally see the entire thing, in theatres no less!
The original tapes were lost for years, but when Jobs died last month, the director of the interview went rummaging in his garage and, lo and behold, found a VHS copy of the footage. Now it has been cleaned up and we get to see the results.
Note: tomorrow is going to be a busy Thursday in Westwood. In addition to the Jobs doc, the weekly Westwood Farmers Market will also be on Broxton, between 12 and 6, followed by the monthly Westwood Live block party on a closed-down Broxton, so Broxton is THE cool place to be this Thursday Nov. 17! Be there!
